Welcome Planned for Plainfield Army Ranger

Residents are invited to greet SSgt. Brett Perle on Sunday, June 23.

After five stints in Afghanistan and one in Iraq, Plainfield native Brett Perle will get a warm welcome, courtesy of Operation Welcome You Home, on Sunday, June 23.

Perle, a lifelong Plainfield resident and 2007 graduate of Plainfield Central High School, is serving his sixth year with the 1/75th Army Rangers in Savannah, Georgia. He is the son of proud parents Mark and Jean Perle of Plainfield, and brother of Nate and Collin.

Perle, 24, told his parents of his enlistment on his high school graduation day, according to Operation Welcome You Home. He married his junior high sweetheart, Jessica Quito, following his first deployment, and the couple has two daughters.

He returned from his fifth stint in Afghanistan in May, and plans on continuing with the Army Rangers in reconnaissance. An E-6, Perle has received the Army Achievement, Army Commendation and Good Conduct medals, along with two joint service commendation medals, an Afghanistan campaign medal and three campaign stars; and an Iraqi campaign medal and two campaign stars.

Operation Welcome You Home invites area residents to greet Perle on Sunday morning. The first staging will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Meijer at Route 59 and 135th Street. There, the group will await Perle to escort him to a party being held in his honor at the Plainfield Moose Lodge.

The second staging will take place at 11:45 a.m. at the Moose Lodge, 16310 Lincoln Hwy., where a flag line will gather to greet Perle and his family.
