Where to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Plainfield

Plainfield businesses offer up Irish specials, live music and more.

It's almost St. Patrick's Day, and even if you're not lucky enough to be Irish, there's still fun to be had.

Here's what's happening in Plainfield this year on March 17:

  • Durbin's of Plainfield will offer an Irish breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon before the annual Plainfield Hometown Irish parade; following the parade, diners can enjoy a corned beef and cabbage dinner and a 3 p.m. performance by Ireland's Doonaree Pipe Band.
  • Tap House Grill will offer an all-you-can-eat kegs and eggs buffet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., plus St. Patrick's Day drink specials.
  • Returning for the 11th year is the Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade, stepping off from Plainfield Central High School at 1 p.m. This year's grand marshals are former Plainfield Mayor Jim Waldorf and wife Mary Ann; the parade queen is 11-year-old Katie Cassidy. Click here for more information on the day's festivities and road closures, or visit the parade website.
  • The Naperville Knights of Columbus will combine St. Paddy's Day revelry with fighting kids' cancer as they host the annual St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser at the old Plainfield Fire Department building on DesPlaines Street. The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here for details.
  • Following the parade, adults can take part at a pub crawl starting at 3 p.m., traveling to Tap House Grill, Front Street Cantina, Bin 48, Moe Joe's, Uptown Eatery & Tap and HopScotch & Vine.
  • The Penalty Box will celebrate St. Patrick's Day and its first anniversary with drink specials, plus live music, prizes and giveaways from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The bar is also partnering with Guinness to raise money for the Leary Firefighters Foundation throughout the month of March.
  • Moe Joe's will offer green beer, Irish dancers and a leprechaun DJ.
