If you have a library card, the Plainfield Public Library will lend you one of the pocket devices and everything you need to use it.

If you’ve been wondering whether an e-reader is for you, here’s your chance to try one out for free.

All you need is a library card to check out a Sony Reader Pocket Edition from the . The reader comes with everything you need to get started, including a USB cable and a quick-start guide to walk you through downloading eBooks from MyMediaMall, the library's digital book service.

The Reader Pocket Edition lets you download up to 350 of books from anywhere your summer happens to take you. It’s small enough to slip into a purse or jacket pocket.  Perfect for summer reading, it has a 5-inch display that makes for easy reading even in bright beach sunlight.
