Cross Hosts Senior Citizen Health Fair

State Rep. Tom Cross (R-Oswego) announces his annual Senior Citizen Health Fair will be held on Tuesday Aug. 7, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Parish Church, located at 15629 South Illinois Route 59, Plainfield from 9am – 12noon.  This event is free and open to the public.

“I encourage senior citizens and their family members to attend our senior fair. This year’s fair has numerous additions from previous years.  I am especially proud to offer the opportunity for seniors to shred confidential documents at the fair,” said Rep. Cross.

This year’s fair will have a shred truck in the south corner of St. Mary’s parking lot. Seniors should pull up to the shred truck and wait for their documents to be unloaded.  After senior’s cars are unloaded they should then park their car. Seniors are allowed a maximum of two grocery bags for each. No businesses please.

“Also new at this year’s fair is the Plainfield Police’s used and expired medication collection booth. Officer Mark Siegel will collect used and expired medication that will then be disposed of properly,” said Cross.

Other screenings for this year’s fair include: glucose, blood pressure, oxygen level, temperature and balance testing.  State Treasurer Dan Rutherford’s office also will conduct ICash searches for seniors.  ICash is a lost assets search that the state may be holding for you.
