FIREWORKS!

The fireworks display originally scheduled for July 3 in conjunction with the Plainfield Park District’s annual Patriotic Picnic have been rescheduled to coincide with Plainfield River Days on Saturday, Sept. 15. The show will start at dusk.

Viewing areas with simulcast sound will include the River Days festival site, along the west side of the riverfront in downtown Plainfield, and Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Dr. Please note that simulcast sound will not be available at St. Mary’s Church.

The Plainfield Park District, Plainfield Fire Department and Plainfield Police Department made a joint decision to cancel the July 3 fireworks show as a safety precaution. This summer’s hot, dry weather and the resulting parched ground conditions created an increased risk of fire for the scheduled fireworks display in early July.
