In 1990 a devastating tornado changed the face of Plainfield and included the destruction of one of the town’s historic landmarks that was formerly known as Electric Park.
In 2007, a plan was formed to revitalize Electric Park. That plan in now known as Project: Riverfront. The simple idea behind Project: Riverfront was to reestablish and then maintain the natural characteristics of the land, create an attraction that would provide an entertainment venue for people across the area, build back the identity that was unique to this local community, and create memories that would last for another 100 years.
Late in 2009, to spearhead this initiative with fundraising and implementation The Plainfield Riverfront Foundation was formed. We honor the tradition of past times with the simple things of life in a town that seeks to preserve its culture and memories for generations to come. We are proud to announce The Plainfield Riverfront as the venue for the inaugural Midwest Brewers Fest.
