Jon Stewart Calls a Truce, Declares Chicago Pizza 'Very Tasty'

Watch Lou Malnati's owner Marc Malnati and Jon Stewart put an end to the pizza war.

A week after throwing down the gauntlet in the Chicago vs. New York pizza war, Jon Stewart ate some humble pie — actually, make that a Lou Malnati's pie — on Wednesday night's "The Daily Show."

After drawing the ire of Chicagoans by calling deep-dish pizza an "above-ground marinara swimming pool for rats" (among other insults), he ate his words when Marc Malnati himself showed up with a fresh-from-the-oven Lou Malnati's pizza.

Though Stewart scoffed when Malnati offered him a fork and knife — "What am I, a f_in' animal?," he asked — he was forced to admit he'd been dead wrong about deep-dish.

"Let me say this — very tasty. It's very, very tasty, and I apologize. Truce," he said before shaking Malnati's hand.

While Stewart's war against Chicago pie may be over, he may have stirred up more trouble; after taking a few bites deep-dish, he and Malnati agreed that California is the big loser when it comes to making good pizza.

"I mean California's pizza ... and I say this with all due respect to California, that is a pile of s__," Stewart said.
