Plainfield Central, North Present Joint Band Concert
The concert will take place at North Central College in Naperville.
The Plainfield High School -- Central Campus and Plainfield North High School Wind Ensembles will present a shared concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College in Naperville.
Wentz Concert Hall is located at 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. Admission is $5.
The PNHS Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Steve Pyter will perform “Galop” by Dmitri Shostakovich; “Ye Banks and Braes O'Bonnie Doon” by Percy Grainger; “Xerxes” by John Mackey; and “Impressions of Japan” by James Barnes.

The PCHS Wind Ensemble, directed by Dan Valkema will perform “Canzona” by Peter Mennin; “Prelude to Act. 3 of Kunihild” by Cyrill Kistler; “Color” by Bob Margolis; and “Danzon No. 2” by Arturo Marquez.
The joint concert is an idea he and Pyter first discussed last spring, Valkema said. “We thought this would be a way to get more than one of our top groups together in a great concert hall nearby,” he said.

Wentz Hall has hosted concerts by numerous professional artists of all genres, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. “It is acoustically fabulous, and a great performance and learning opportunity for our students,” Valkema said.
