'Screamfield' Auditions Are Aug. 31 in Plainfield

Actors young and old are needed to populate Screamfield 2013.

Organizers are gearing up for the fourth annual Village of Screamfield haunted house fundraiser, and they're looking for fresh blood.

Auditions to portray the nightmarish denizens of the underground village — located, naturally, in the basement of the Plainfield Police Department — are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug, 31, at the police department, 14300 S. Coil Plus Dr.

"Screamfield" is a fundraiser for the Plainfield School District 202 Foundation for Excellence, which provides grants to fund teacher-initiated enrichment programs in Plainfield schools.

Each year, the attraction offers "full scare" and family friendly haunts.

Anyone interested in auditioning should email screamhaunts@gmail.com to receive additional information. If you can't make the Aug. 31 event, organizers will work with you to scheduled an audition.

"We are currently looking for new residents to fill the streets of our beloved Screamfield," organizer Ken Erdey said in an email. "We are in need of anyone from 13 years old to as young as 85. So please take a moment and become a part of the best fundraiser in Will County."
