Four films, presented by the , and , will be shown at the Richard A. Rock Amphitheater in June and July. All are second installations of recent G and PG-rated films.

“We’re thrilled with the positive feedback that we receive about the movies,” Community Relations Director Amy De Boni said of the annual series. “Our average attendance increases each year and families enjoy seeing movies outdoors on the big screen.

“It’s a great, inexpensive night out.”

For first-time families venturing out to Settlers’ Park this summer, De Boni says it's good to be prepared.

“Be sure to bring blankets and lawn chairs,” DeBoni said. “Families usually begin arriving around 7 pm. We try to begin the movie as close to 8 p.m. as possible, but it all depends on how sunny it is.”

In addition to the June 10 premier, the other films to be shown are:

June 24 Shrek Forever After (PG, 93 min.)

July 1 Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (PG, 83 min.)

July 22 Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (PG, 105 min.)

“Every year, the village and Plainfield Park District brainstorm ideas for family-friendly movies. We also take suggestions from movie attendees,” De Boni said. “We show only G- and PG-rated movies and we try to show a variety of movies, including animated and non-animated, comedy, action, adventure, and sports. This summer is our summer of sequels.”

Concessions including popcorn, candy, pop, and water will be available for sale at the park with proceeds benefitting the annual series.

Unfortunately, if inclement weather is in the forecast, the movie will be cancelled. Perspective attendees should visit the village Web site at www.plainfield-il.org, call the Settlers’ Park Event Event Hotline at 815-609-6124 or sign-up to receive Facebook and Twitter updates.

Settlers’ Park is located in downtown Plainfield, southeast of the Lockport Street/Van Dyke Road intersection and just south of the Plainfield Village Hall. Parking is available in the village hall parking lot, on Village Center Drive, and on Van Dyke Road.
