Trailer Released for Movie Filmed Near Plainfield

Stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis brought a film crew — and plenty of fans — to District 202's Aux Sable Middle School last summer. "Jupiter Ascending" is scheduled for a 2014 release.

Movie fans flocked to the area last summer, hoping for a glimpse of the stars as Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis filmed scenes for their sci-fi action flick "Jupiter Ascending."

The wait is nearly over — the movie is scheduled for a July 18, 2014, release, and you can see the official teaser trailer by clicking on the embedded video.

Describing it as an "original science fiction epic adventure," the movie's official Facebook page sums up the plot:

"Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos."

In late July, fans reported sightings of Tatum, Kunis and Sean Bean ("Lord of the Rings," "Game of Thrones") as they used District 202's Aux Sable Middle School as a home base and filmed at a farmhouse in rural Minooka.
