Party Patter: The Latest Party Trend — Swap Till You Drop

Heres some ideas for a fun ladies night out.

The other day a few of my friends and I were talking about wardrobes. Most of us spoke about how we wear the same clothes all the time. I don't know about you, but there are many clothes in my closet I never wear, some of the reasons I can talk about, some...well, let's say, I'm not going there. Some even admitted that there are clothes in their closet that still have tags on them. Yikes! Now I don't feel so bad. Thats when I came up with this neat idea. In fact, I'm planning on a (clothes swap party) in the very near future.

Here are a few ideas that I came up to make it fun.

Have it at a start of a new season, since this is the time most of you probably switch your closets around. Make sure that what you bring with you to the swap is not going to be something you may have second thoughts about giving up.

Try to make the party seasonal.

Have everyone bring an appetizer. Serve wine or martinis. Check my blogs — there are a few martini recipes you might want to try. Another idea might be to have a signature drink.

Set up the room with a store-like atomsphere.

If you have a full-length mirror, set it up so your friends can see how they look. Use a couple of your bedrooms as changing areas. Try to get a rolling rack which will make it easier to browse the clothing. Place all shoes in one area and accessories in another.

So what should I do with the leftover clothing?

Why not donate to your favorite charity such as Goodwill, a veterans group or resale shop? Or, check with your local churches and womans shelters. If you have pieces that are in good consider selling them on consignment.

I anticipate leaving the party with a full stomach, and a new wardrobe at no cost. I'm sure I will feel better leaving the party knowing that someone else took that top of mine that still has the tags on it, and will give it a good home.
