Plainfield's Rabulinski Rouses JCA

Dan Rabulinski has a goal and an assist as the JCA boys soccer team posts its fourth shutout of the season.

CHICAGO – A long throw-in and a long free kick by senior Dan Rabulinski powered the Joliet Catholic Academy boys soccer team Wednesday to a 2-0 East Suburban Catholic Conference win over St. Patrick.

A senior from Plainfield, Rabulinski’s throw-in set up a goal by senior Cody Vercellotti (Shorewood) right before halftime for a 1-0 lead. JCA (4-3-1, 1-1) then clinched the victory with Rabulinski’s free-kick goal.

It was the fourth shutout of the year for the HIlltoppers.

“The team played well,” JCA coach Tom Cranmer said. “St. Patrick’s defense was really solid in the opening half and it took us a little while to make some adjustments. We started to control the game more toward the end of the first half and we were rewarded with a goal.

“We never looked back in the second half, and I was really pleased in how we moved the ball offensively to create numerous, dangerous opportunities for us to score. Our defense also was particularly solid.”
