Plainfield's Schoenstedt Serves It Up For JCA

Plainfield's Emily Schoenstedt delivers 22 service points as Joliet Catholic Academy's nationally ranked girls volleyball team sweeps its playoff opener.

YORKVILLE – Senior setter Emily Schoenstedt went back to the service line for the Joliet Catholic Academy girls volleyball team in both games Tuesday night and put the match in the book.

A Plainfield native, Schoenstedt finished with a career-high 22 service points as the nationally ranked Angels opened action at the Class 3A Yorkville Regional with a 25-6, 25-9 victory over IMSA.

Schoenstedt also had 13 assists as JCA (30-6) reached the 30-win plateau for the seventh straight season. The Angels will play for their 11th consecutive regional title on Thursday night against Rosary.

“The girls came out focused and ready to play,” JCA coach Christine Scheibe said. “Schoenstedt got on a couple of great service runs and our offense was able to support her with multiple options to set.

“It was a great way to open the playoffs, get people some playing time and get our 30th win.”
