Man Tried to Lure Child with Candy Near Plainfield: Police

Joliet police are warning parents to be wary following July 22 incident.

Joliet police issued an alert on Tuesday morning after a man allegedly approached a young girl in a "suspicious incident" in the Clearwater Springs subdivision.

Police said the man approached the girl around 4 p.m. Monday, telling her, "Come here ... I have some candy for you."

  • According to police, the man is described as a black male between the ages of 40 and 50, driving a white work-type van with a rusted rear fender.

    Residents who see any suspicious activity or a vehicle or person matching the description are asked to call the Joliet Police Department at 815-724-3020. Residents who witness an emergency in progress should immediately call 9-1-1, police said.

    The Clearwater Springs/Aspen Falls subdivision is located at the northeast corner of Caton Farm and County Line roads.
