Art Cube Studios Moving to Downtown Plainfield

Owner Amanda Chakravarty said the business is expanding after outgrowing its current location.

It will be a bittersweet goodbye when next week as a Plainfield business bids farewell to its first home.

Since 2010, Art Cube Studios has offered art classes for all ages out of Plainfield’s historic Flanders House, 24044 W. Main St.

Now it’s time to move on as enrollment continues to increase at the studio.

The business is scheduled to make the move into a new location at 15116 S. Des Plaines St. in downtown Plainfield, owner Amanda Chakravarty said. The new studio is next to Front Street Cantina.

“We love the Flanders House,” Chakravarty said. “It has such a home-like feel. Kids come in and they take their shoes off because it feels like home.”

But Art Cube has grown, with an estimated 150 to 200 students enrolled in classes at any given time, she noted.

Chakravarty said staff and students are excited to make the move to downtown Plainfield — and, if everything goes as planned, they’ll make the shift without cancelling any classes.

“We’re scheduled to move Saturday (Jan. 26) after classes are done,” she said. Chakravarty added staff members will work all day Sunday, Jan. 27, to ensure that the new Art Cube is ready for classes to resume as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 28.

A “grand opening” for the new location is in the works and will likely concide with Art Cube’s anniversary this spring, she said.

The studio offers classes for ages 3 and up Monday through Saturday. For a complete list of classes, visit the Art Cube website. The business also hosts art sales and offers studio space for rent.
