Cruise Nights to Begin on Tuesday

Plainfield is playing host to a variety of business events this week.

After MainStreet Plainfield closed up shop, the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce agreed to take over the Plainfield Cruise Nights. The first cruise night of the season begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 4 and goes until 9 p.m. The opening event is sponsored by Rod Baker Ford. The event takes place along Lockport Street and DesPlaines Street. Cruise Nights are every Tuesday through Sept. 3.

In other business news:

  • Plainfield Farmers Market returned to the southwest corner of Lockport Street and Route 59 on June 1. The event will continue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday from June 1 to Sept. 28. The event will feature locally grown produce and Plainfield businesses, including Peter Rubi, Amy’s Organics and The Olive Gallery, plus local farmer Pat Lieb.
  • June 3 to June 6 is registration week for the summer reading program at the Plainfield Public Library. "Have Book — Will Travel" is the name of the 2013 summer reading program, which runs from June 3 to Aug. 3. You must have a Plainfield library card to participate. Participants can continue to register through July 20. For more information, visit the library website.
  • Aurelio's Pizza Plainfield is offering a Father's Day buffet, starting at 4 p.m., June 16th. They will be serving Italian beef, fried chicken, sausage & peppers, pasta, potatoes, pizza, salad bar and desserts. All dads get a free $10 gift from Aurelio's pizza. Price for dads is $9.95 and the price for kids is $6.95. Call 815-254-3500 for a reservation.
