When and how did your business get started?

I started my business February 2012 as soon as I graduated from school. After working in two salons, I realized that I didn't like the way traditional salons worked, so my husband, Hubert, and I opened Earth Mama in three little rooms on Lockport and Des Plaines in downtown Plainfield.

We grew so quickly that in April 2013 we opened our new location in the Plainfield Small Business Park on south Route 30!

What is your business best known for?

We are known for a couple of things: People are so comfortable with us. We are the spa for people who don't like spas. No uniforms, no pressure and a staff that genuinely care about you.

Second is our knowledgable and amazing staff. Our first priority is the health of your skin and body. We are all highly trained in post graduate study and really know about how your skin works. 

Why did you choose the town you did to open your business? 

Plainfield is where I live and I think it is such a great place! I wanted to have my business here and meet a need for affordable skin care, waxing and massage at prices everyone could afford. 

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

Our owner has completed over 100 hours of post graduate study at the International Dermal Institute, and is constantly learning about ingredient technology, conditions of the skin, new treatment modalities and better safer methods of body and facial waxing. We use only Dermalogica products and every skin therapist is also constantly upgrading their post graduate education! The health of your skin comes first! We don't do fads in skin care.

Does your business offer a special deals card or program?

We offer a discount of 25 percent off of regularly priced services for:

• Active military and their immediate family. If anyone needs pampering it's them!
• Educators - as long as you work in a school and have your ID, we are gonna treat you right!
• Students- bring in that ID
