Fast-Food Restaurants Revamped: Plainfield Eateries to Get a New Look

Maybe it's the competition?

With a Hardee's restaurant giving an old Burger King new life and a new McDonald's soon to open, two other Plainfield fast-food joints are scheduled to remodel during the first half of 2014, according to Plainfield Village Planner Michael Garrigan.

Garrigan said the McDonald's at Renwick Road and Route 59 is scheduled to be renovated early this year.

"They want to give it a more contemporary design," Garrigan said of the restaurant, which will remain open during renovations.

Another restaurant — Wendy's at Route 59 and 135th Street — will close for remodeling as it also gets a modern update. Garrigan called the project a "complete re-imaging," saying the owner is abandoning the old-fashioned hamburger stand look for a more sleek design.

Another area Wendy's franchise, located on Rickert Drive in Naperville, recently reopened after getting a similar update, as did a location in Algonquin.
