Kickboxing Gym Opens in Plainfield

Ilovekickboxing.com offers a full-body worker, according to manager Bill Hill.

The motto at one of Plainfield's newest fitness centers is simple, according to manager Bill Hill: "If you look good, we look great."

ILoveKickboxing.com, the first facility of its kind in the Chicago suburbs, opened last week at 16310 S. Lincoln Highway, hosting its first class on April 8.

Hill, who is also a certified personal trainer, said the facility offers no-contact kickboxing workouts.

"It's an hour-long workout," including everything from bag drills, partner drills, squats and plyometrics, Hill said. "It's a full-body workout."

Located near the Plainfield Moose Lodge on Route 30, the gym currently offers classes at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; 6 p.m. Fridays; and 10 a.m. Saturdays.

Hill said he plans to expand the class schedule.

"I'm looking to do about eight classes a day, except for Sunday," he said. ILoveKickboxing.com is also planning to hire two additional instructors in the coming weeks.

The Plainfield facility is the national chain's first Chicagoland studio, but Hill said plans are in the works to expand into other areas, including Romeoville.

He said ILoveKickboxing.com trainers will also help members achieve their fitness goals, even when they're working out at other local gyms, by offering tips and strategies for success.

"Once you become a member here, we are your personal trainers," he said.
