Limestone Brewing Company Wins Big in 'Best of Burbs'

Customers voted new Plainfield brewpub tops in suburban brews, food, dancing and drinks.

For a new kid on the block, Plainfield’s is making its share of nightlife news.

SuburbaNites Dining and Entertainment Magazine, at Monday night’s “Best of the Burbs” party in Aurora, handed Limestone its top awards for Best Brewpub, Best Dance Club, Best Chef, and Best Mixed Drink, the latter for its Limestone Lemonade.

Customers voted Limestone tops in four categories from a field of all suburban Chicago dining and entertainment venues.

“Being recognized as the best brewpub in the Chicago suburbs is fantastic considering that we have only been open for just over a year,” Limestone partner/owner Doug Isley said. “It’s a tribute to all of our employees and shows that we really are dedicated to producing outstanding craft beers and delicious, freshly made food.”

While making a name as one of the area’s hottest night spots by offering no-cover live bands every weekend, LBC prides itself in keeping family friendly through the week. It pitches Half-Pint Monday’s, offering half-price kids’ meals, fills mugs with home-brewed root beer, and is planning a family movie night.

The local brewpub is community conscious, too. Limestone donates 50 cents from every glass of its 6450 Red Ale, named for Plainfield’s Rotary Club Chapter 6450, to the local charity.

The Plainfield brewpub specializes in craft beers with local back stories. The recently released Flying Pig Imperial IPA, for example, takes its name from teh story about the Plainfield farmer’s pig who was supposedly blown out of its pen during a 1920s storm and was later found sleeping on the kitchen table.

Limestone not long ago added veteran chef Darren Smith, who used to wear his tall white hat at a few of the area’s more notable restaurants, including The Keywester and Luigi’s House in Naperville and Branmor’s American Grill in Bolingbrook.

If you haven’t yet checked the place out, one good chance to sample all it offiers is during the April 3 collaborative beer dinner, being called the Brothers of Highway 59 Brewer’s Dinner. For $55, you'll receive a six-course feast, each of which will be paired with beers from Limestone and Two Brothers Brewing Company in Warrenville.
