New Chamber Businesses to Get Ribbon Cuttings

PACC to recognize eight area companies that have recently joined their ranks.

The Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce has scheduled eight ribbon-cutting ceremonies this month and next for businesses that are either new to the area or are new chamber members, Chamber President and CEO Liz Collins said.

Every business is given a ribbon-cutting event as a benefit of joining the chamber, in part because it helps draw community attention to them, Collins said. The chamber currently has more than 500 members, although not all are Plainfield businesses. Any company is free to join the chamber if it's willing to pay the membership fee, Collins said.

That the ranks of the chamber are increasing — even if not all new members represent new businesses — is still a good sign for the area, especially as the economy continues to struggle, she said.

"We see (new members) as being good for the community, too," Collins said.
