NextMedia Sells WJOL, Other Local Radio Stations

Digity LLC has agreed to purchase the company's 33 stations, including a total of five stations in the Joliet market.

NextMedia Group is selling its 33 radio stations, including WJOL-AM and several other radio stations in the Joliet market, according to a published report.

They buyer is Digity LLC, a new company headed by broadcast industry veteran Dean Goodman, a Chicago Tribune story said.

In addition to WJOL, the other local stations included in the sale are 95.9 “The River” (WERV), WCCQ 98.3, WSSR 96.7 and WRXQ 100.7.

According to the Tribune story, "NextMedia has been owned by a private equity firm since it emerged from bankruptcy in 2010. Since then, the company said it has worked to bolster its core business so it could be in a position to sell the stations."
