Plainfield's Baci Building Back on the Market

Residents hoping for an upscale eatery in downtown Plainfield were disappointed to learn that restaurateur Darryl Sams' plans to renovate the former Baci restaurant building went up in smoke. Sams, who planned extensive restoration work on the more than century-old building, was to open a New Orleans-inspired eatery, but pulled the plug on the project at the end of the summer.

It’s All in the Family at Plainfield Car Dealership

Bye-bye, Bill Jacobs, hello Webb Chevy: A family with a long history in the car business and ties to Plainfield took over the Route 30 dealership in September.

Last Call at Mickey O'Neill's

A Plainfield Irish pub went the way of its predecessor last January: Less than a year after opening, Mickey O'Neill's closed up shop in downtown Plainfield. Before becoming Mickey's, the location was home to the now-defunct Finnegan's Irish Pub.

Italian Eatery Opens in Downtown Plainfield

Just months after it was vacated by Mickey O'Neill's, a downtown building had a new occupant: Capri Sogno opened in late summer, offering up Italian cuisine.

'HopScotch' Owners Open New Stores in Downtown Plainfield

The owners of the popular HopScotch & Vine restaurant opened two retail shops across the street from the eatery in July.


New McDonald's Coming to Plainfield

Trustees OK'd another McDonald's franchise for Plainfield; the location near 135th Street and Route 30 is expected to open in early 2014.

Cost Cutters in Plainfield closed yesterday and they were open for 14 years. They gave no notice of closing.

Surprised you didn't mention On The Road Again, A consignment shop just like home. We've been open since March of 2013! Located right on DesPlaines Street next to the Chamber offices. Plainfield has been a pleasure to operate our shop in and all the people have been amazing! We look forward to another fantastic year!
