Pioneer Lanes to Get New Life: Buyer

The Plainfield bowling alley closed on Sunday.

Good news, bad news for Plainfield-area bowling fans.

The bad news? Longtime Plainfield business Pioneer Lanes, 15610 S. Joliet Road, has closed.

The good news? A new owner says the bowling alley could reopen by next week.

Jonathan Dow said he's in the process of purchasing the business, which is tentatively slated to reopen as Plainfield Lanes on March 31.

"The sale is currently being wrapped up and we are aiming to own this location by Friday," Dow said this week. "If closing stays on track, we hope to be fully operational by March 31."

Dow said if all goes to plan, the business could have a soft opening on Sunday, March 30.

"Again, a lot of that either happening or not is up to attorneys and banks — but this is what we are preparing for," Dow said.

Bowling fans can stay up to date on the new business by checking the Plainfield Lanes website or following the bowling alley on Facebook and Twitter.

"We are excited about the upcoming opportunities with Plainfield Lanes and look forward to being Plainfield's bowling center," Dow said in an email to Patch.
