Plainfield Among Best Towns for Job Seekers: Consumer Org

Plainfield ranked No. 2, ahead of area towns including Naperville.

Plainfield is among the top towns in Illinois for job seekers, according to NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website.

The village was ranked No. 2 among Illinois towns based upon median income, population growth and unemployment rates. 

"Plainfield is a fast-growing village in Will County, having seen 9.6 percent population growth from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, it boasts a fantastic standard of living, with a high median household income of $108,239," NerdWallet wrote in its assessment of Plainfield.


According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security's most recent figures, Plainfield's unemployment rate was at 7.9 percent in August — down from 8.7 percent the month before, but up from 7 percent a year ago.

Other towns that made NerdWallet's list include Oswego, which ranked No. 3, and Naperville, which came in at No. 8. Read more about the rankings and see which towns made the list.
