Plainfield Business Briefs: Chipotle Gets Route 59 Location; New Opening Date for Nevin’s Brewing

New restaurants slated to open soon in Plainfield.

What's happening on the local business scene?

Here's a look at what's coming, what's going and what recently opened its doors in Plainfield.

Coming soon

Chipotle

Village Planner Michael Garrigan said the Mexican restaurant chain will open up shop next year in the Kensington South shopping center at 127th Street and Route 59.

According to Garrigan, the franchisee has submitted remodeling plans to the village’s building department for the site, which formerly housed a mattress store.

Nevin’s Brewing

The American-themed brewery, 12337 S. Route 59, was originally slated to open by Labor Day before pushing back the date to just before Thanksgiving.

Now, according to the company, a grand opening is scheduled for sometime in December.

The Plainfield location, part of the Tommy Nevin’s chain, held a hiring open house for bartenders, servers and kitchen staff earlier this month, and has reportedly hired a master brewer, according to its Facebook page.

So excited. I was just saying that we need a Chipotle. Location couldn't be better either cause it is right by my house. Awesome!

A chipotle fast food burrito place. Wow! Plainfield is really moving forward with bringing business to the Village. Every other town that surrounds Plainfield seems to bring in many more businesses. Why is it so hard for Plainfield to do the same?

We love Chipotle eat there once a week and usually drive to Bolingbrook or Oswego! Can't wait!

Chipotle opened a new location in Joliet right by the mall about two months ago. Its in the plaza with GameStop, American Mattress, and the Currency Exchange right in front of Bed, Bath, & Beyond.. Great alternative to traditional fast food. Everything is fresh and you watch them make it so it is done the way you want it.

We need another Qdoba Mexican restaurant in the area. I love the food variety there a lot more than Chipotle.

Believe it or not, Chipotle is well respected by the High End Consumer and is a good thing for Plainfield. If it was a Taco Bell then I would agree but this could be the start of better things to come.

Can't say that I've ever eaten at a Chipotle. But it sounds like it's pretty good. Hmmm, but then I never eaten at Chic-fil-A either. Guess I'm not much for that fast food. But it's a good sign for Plainfield that more store fronts are being rented. Either that or there aren't anymore to rent in Naperville!

Plainfield seems to live in a bubble and any development that comes to this town is given a hard time. Perhaps the Plainfield elected officials need to look at some of their own next door neighbors.

I love the idea of getting a Chipotle up at the North end of town but there are already parking issues there. I am not sure how they will attract new business if you can't park near the store....the mall at 119&59 is wide open for new business and with the new medical offices coming in, there will be customers near by.

I am just wondering how long this suspense filled soap opera will continue? Bottom line: HurtadoRead More knew his buddy needed a job...so; he and his majority board members made a mockery of local government due process and gave Mr. Peck a job, even though Hurtado voted with the past board to unanimously select an Exec…who is still under a contract. And then decided there was a need to pay a board secretary (who jumped out of the frying pan…smart move) and then appointed someone without pay. And of course there is a need to have a paid political hack to help publicly spin the board’s craziness via press releases.

I hate to ask the obvious of Mr. Peck (not that I expect him to answer anyway), but why is thisRead More announcement coming from the Executive Director rather than our newly appointed Director of Communications?
Bad News Bears June 18, 2013 at 02:53 pm
Mr. Peck, please answer 2 questions for me: 1. If you are cutting $800K but AdministrativeRead More Salaries are up over $118K, where are the cuts coming from. I have always been a patron of the Park District and want to know which of my programs your skimming off to pay yourself and Mr. Booth. 2. "Our staff deserves a lot of credit for this budget,” Peck said, “as their efforts to hold the line wherever possible have led to our success on behalf of District residents." Is reducing hours of employees the way you reward your staff now? I'm very upset that you honestly thought that cutting loyal employees hours instead of offering benefits was a good idea. I have a better one, cut the hours of Mr. Booth who has an unnecessary job and use his pay and salaries to offset the 4 loyal part-time workers. I will not hold my breath for your answers since answering questions to the people who pay your salary isn't on your to do list
