Walgreens Announces Closure of 76 Stores Across U.S.

In an effort to save up to $50 million, 76 unprofitable Walgreens locations will be shuttered, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Deerfield-based retail giant Walgreens plans to shutter 76 unprofitable stores across the country in an effort to save up to $50 million, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Most of the closures, though specific locations were not named in a Tuesday investor conference, will occur in towns where other Walgreens are currently located, the article states. Meanwhile, Walgreens reports it will still have a net increase of up to 75 stores in new locations.
