The Green Market, featuring the sale of local, organic and sustainable farm-fresh produce, meats and eggs, will resume Sept. 17.

Held inside the store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday (except Sept. 10), the Green Market offers different items each week, depending on what’s in season.

The market Sept. 17 is likely to have organic grapes and plums and locally grown asparagus, shallots, summer squash, purple and red potatoes and cherry, heirloom and plum tomatoes, co-owner Anna Trost said. Also for sale may be bacon and pork loin chops from a cooperative of small pig farmers as well as grass-fed beef from Tallgrass, a new vendor based in Kansas.

Vendors also include Plainfield farmer Patrick Leib, Amy’s Organics of Plainfield, Timber Creek Organics in Yorkville and Majestic Farm in Millbrook.

“We were sourcing great products for our café and with more people cooking at home we want to give them an opportunity to have the ingredients at home, too,” Trost said of starting the Green Market earlier this year.

She herself has gardens and raises chickens with chef Jason Locher at their home in unincorporated Plainfield. The couple is happy to share gardening and cooking tips and recipe ideas.

Residents can expect the Green Market to continue through at least October.

“It’s been well responded to and people have asked if we’d extend it,” she said.

Other upcoming events at Wine & Cheese by TCC include a wine tasting from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and beer tasting from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17. Starting Sept. 22, the complementary wine tastings will resume to being held Thursdays and Saturdays.

Produce picked from Plainfield gardens and farms and other locally sourced foods will be featured at the Harvest Course Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2. Tickets for the 9-course gourmet dinner with wine pairings cost $100.
