Goodwill Industries of Metropolitan Chicago, part of the largest of more than 165 Goodwill organizations in North America, has been providing services since 1919. More than 5,700 Goodwill employees work in 85 locations throughout our 23-county territory in metropolitan Chicago and southeastern Wisconsin. The organization’s mission is to provide training, employment and supportive services for people with disabilities or disadvantages who seek greater independence.

One of the first things people recognize about Goodwill is its store and donation centers – and rightly so, for they are a key component of our history and daily operations. Goodwill’s retail operation collects and sells donated clothing and household goods. We also recycle computers, televisions, cell phones and other electronics. Revenue from the sale of donated items helps fund job training and other Goodwill mission programs and services. Visit AmazingGoodwill.com for more retail-specific information.

Goodwill’s Mission Services

And, these individuals prepare and serve 8.5 million meals, issue 2.7 million uniform items and process over 2.4 million pieces of mail for the U.S. Navy.

Goodwill Workforce Connection Centers (located in Englewood, the West Loop, North Riverside, Joliet and Lombard) offer free job search assistance and resources in a professional environment for people looking for work. Services include workshops, access to technology and onsite interviewing. Computers, printers, internet access and telephones are available and full-time Goodwill staff is on hand to provide assistance and guidance throughout the skills assessment and job search process.
