Eli And Big Ben Square Off In A 2004 NFL Draft Reunion

Here's one of four game previews for the week. My thoughts on the Steelers/Giants match up.

NFC Game Of The Week

Steelers (4-3) at Giants (6-2)

Steelers: They’re starting to click and click at the right time. The Steelers have had questions asked about them all season long. Is this team too old? Has their defense seen it’s better days? I still think the Steelers are a good football though nonetheless. Their key guys on defense (Timmons, Woodley and Harrison) are starting to make plays on that side of the football and Ike Taylor is playing some good ball as well. Offensively is where I’ve been impressed from an analytical standpoint. The Steelers have seemed to go back to it’s bread and butter and that’s running the football. Jonathan Dwyer has stepped up and has given them a power running game. Something they haven’t had since the days of the great Jerome Bettis. The Steelers travel east to East Rutherford to face a Giants team that has played well as of late, can the Steelers get their third win in a
row?

Giants: The Giants are a team that will be in thick of things as the playoff picture in the NFC continues to form itself together. Eli has played at an MVP level through 8 games this year and to me it seems like they play with a chip on their shoulder. People still aren’t completely sold on the Giants just yet. They get to a 6-2 mark and after that eighth game, the Giants seem to struggle after that. Despite all the injuries to some key guys on both sides of the ball, others have stepped up and that’s what’s impressed me so far with this team. Sunday, Eli faces off against a guy he came into the league with in 2004 in Ben Roethlisberger and both QB’s have two Super Bowl titles each, will Eli outplay Ben?

Prediction: The Giants have been a tough team this season. When
they put the effort into it, they can play great defense and this front four of
the Giants who I’ve considered to be the best D line in football must keep Ben
in the pocket and make sure he doesn’t extend the play because that’s when he’s
at his best when the play dies down. The Steelers did a great job shutting down
AJ Green two weeks ago and they’ll have another tough task in stopping both
Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks. I like the Steelers to get another big win on the
road. Steelers 24 Giants 20
