This Week In Football

Here's what's catching my eye this week. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

1. Packers and Giants square off for the first time since playoffs- These teams met twice last season. Once in the regular season at MetLife with the Packers nearly escaping and keeping their pursuit to perfection alive with a three point win. A month later, it was a different story. The Giants went into Lambeau and beat the Packers, 37-20 to eliminate the heavily favored and 15-1 Packers. For the first time since that huge playoff let down, the Packers will seek to get revenge. It's a match up of the last two Super Bowl champs on Sunday night.

2. RGIII faces Cowboys on Thanksgiving- The rookie star will experience his first action in the bitter Redskins/Cowboys rivalry. The Redskins are coming off a huge win defeating the Eagles by 25 points and RGIII looked fantastic all around. The Cowboys are 5-5 and barely escaped the Cleveland Browns.

3. Patriots and Jets square off on Thanksgiving night- The Patriots are winners of four in a row and they begin a stretch of games without their key offensive player in Rob Gronkowski who had surgery to repair a broken forearm. The Jets are a roller coaster of a football team. You've heard more about them than you have some winning teams. The Jets did save their season last week with a win in St. Louis. What a difference being 4-6 is than being 3-7.

4. Notre Dame looks to complete undefeated season at USC- It's one of the best rivalries in College Football. Notre Dame/USC, it gets no better than this. The Irish are number one in the BCS standings for the first time in school history. Brian Kelly has done a great job with this team this year. Matt Barkley was the clear cut favorite to win the Heisman, now he's out with an injury.

5. 49ers travel to big easy; Falcons and Bucs square off- When the Saints and 49ers met in the playoffs last year, it was one of the games of the year. A few months later, a video was revealed that former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was instructing players to injure key guys on the 49ers and this is all traced back to bounty gate. For the first time since January, the Saints look to get revenge on the team that eliminated them; Tampa is streaking right now and Atlanta is coming off a win which Matt threw five picks.
