Undeated Falcons Face Brees And Saints

One of the many games that's caught my eye for the upcoming week. It's always a battle when the Falcons and Saints play and it's becoming a great rivalry year by year.

NFC Game Of The Week

Falcons (8-0) at Saints (3-5)

Falcons: It hasn’t been pretty but they’re winning football games though, that’s all that matters. It’s safe to say that the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC will travel through the Georgia Dome. It’s funny to believe because this is the team that scored only 2 points in the playoffs last season to the eventual champion Giants last January, now they’re unbeaten and off to their first 8-0 start in franchise history. They didn’t necessarily look the greatest against the Cowboys last Sunday night but they still got the job done and a zero still remains in that loss column. This Sunday they face a Saints team who’s had their number the past few seasons, can they get a win in New Orleans?

Saints: The Saints started 0-4 and were considered done by so many, not so fast now. They’ve won three of their last four including a huge win Monday night against the Eagles and that was the best their defense looked all year long. They won that battle at the line of scrimmage and put enormous amounts of pressure on Michael Vick. Don’t count the Saints out necessarily at 3-5 when it comes to the NFC playoff picture. Drew did his normal and momentum has truly favored this team the past few weeks. It’s a huge game this Sunday with a division rival who hasn’t lost a game coming to town, can the Saints do what 8 other teams haven’t been able to do?

Prediction: The Falcons have always seem to struggle when they play the Saints, Drew Brees always gets the best of them. If the Saints can be physical with the Falcons dynamic receivers and take those guys away and force them to run the ball, they win this game. I like the Saints to hand the Falcons their first loss of the season. Saints 31 Falcons 24

As a Commissioner, I would have liked to have seen a comparison of the budget that was presented inRead More our Board packets as a draft at a prior meeting compared to the draft that was put on the table before me at the last meeting so that I can see where the cuts took place. Spending down this year's contingency line items is like a sugar rush and will negatively affect the Park District's future. Prior Boards have been carrying over the contingency amounts from year to year in order to deal with unexpected expenses that inevitably come up. Just last week, the Administration Center was without a/c when the four units failed and needed to be replaced. Where did the funds come from to do that work? Its not as if the Board can go out and raise funds in the private market. That's what businesses CAN and should do, but then a park district is not a business. I resent the statements that prior Boards have been acting in a financially irresponsible manner. The Board has been operating a lean operation for many years.

I am just wondering how long this suspense filled soap opera will continue? Bottom line: HurtadoRead More knew his buddy needed a job...so; he and his majority board members made a mockery of local government due process and gave Mr. Peck a job, even though Hurtado voted with the past board to unanimously select an Exec…who is still under a contract. And then decided there was a need to pay a board secretary (who jumped out of the frying pan…smart move) and then appointed someone without pay. And of course there is a need to have a paid political hack to help publicly spin the board’s craziness via press releases.

I hate to ask the obvious of Mr. Peck (not that I expect him to answer anyway), but why is thisRead More announcement coming from the Executive Director rather than our newly appointed Director of Communications?
