Jets And Patriots Rivalry Continues.

Intriguing Game-Week 2

Jets (1-0) at Patriots (1-0)

Jets: To some, the Jets looked like the team that made two consectutive trips to the AFC Championship game on Sunday in week one. Rex finally got back to what he does best and that’s getting his defense right. Geno Smith didn’t look too bad in his first NFL game. There is still a lot he can improve on but he was very impressive and will more than likely be counted on as the starter for the rest of the season after news came out that Mark Sanchez may need season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum he suffered in a pre-season game. The Jets are still a question mark to me. They don’t run the ball as efficently as they did a few seasons back and their defense is average at best considering the fact their head coach is a defensive minded guy. Since Rex became the head coach, one thing the Jets have done is beat the Patriots, including a win in the playoffs a few seasons back. They’ll kick off week 2 in Foxboro tonight.

Patriots: When I saw the Patriots play in Buffalo the other day, they had a tough time there for most of the game but still managed to slip away with a victory. Brady made what I call “frustration passes” in week one. What he has to realize is that these receivers he’s with now and young and inexperienced and he doesn’t have the luxury of having those experienced guys like a Wes Welker, Gronk who’s injured but is expected to return soon and Aaron Hernandez. The Patriots will have to rely heavily on running the football and playing some good defense until Brady is on the same page with these new receivers. No team is better at plugging guys in than the New England Patriots. To kick off week 2, they will welcome in the Jets, a team they’ve won their last four games against dating back to 2011. I think we are all anxious to see how this offense can bounce back after an average day at best in week one.

Prediction: The Jets feel they have all the confidence to go into Foxboro and beat the Patriots. They will have to pressure Brady up the middle and really pressure him, not give him anytime to set his feet and flush him out of the pocket. No team is better at making adjustments than New England is. They’ve looked at what they needed to improve on and will look to get better tonight. I like the Patriots at home. Patriots 27 Jets 20
