The Week That Was (9/19-22)

1. Andy Reid wins Philadelphia homecoming- The Chiefs were arguably the laughingstock of the NFL last season. They finished with a 2-14 record. Fast forward to now. They now sit at 3-0 and to me are the most improved team in the league so far. Thursday night was a very emotional one at best. Andy Reid returned to the city where he had a successful stint with the Eagles and the big question was what type of reception would he receive. The Eagles fans gave him a standing ovation which surprised a lot of people. The Eagles defense improved and looked better but that offense was the big issue. The Chiefs played well in all phases of the game to get the win.

2. Giants get embarassed against Newton and Panthers- The Giants look absolutely terrible right now. They can’t get anything going. Eli can’t stay up on his feet, turnovers are really hurting this team and defensively everybody is out of sync. Cam Newton had his way with the Giants on Sunday tossing a few touchdown passes.

3. Bears get huge win in Pittsburgh- On air this past week, I was asked if I believe in the Bears yet? I said I’m almost there but not quite because I wanted to see them get off to a much faster start than in their previous two games. They silenced the Steelers crowd on Sunday night and were scoring points on both sides of the football and that’s what really impressed me. This defense is still turnover hungry and they scored 23 points off some Steeler turnovers. The Steelers finally scored 20 points but they still have issues across the board.

4. Ravens spoil Ed Reed’s homecoming- Ed Reed returned to Baltimore on Sunday and the Ravens were retiring Ray Lewis’s jersey and inducting him into the Ravens ring of honor. I can honestly say this is the best I’ve seen the Ravens look probably since the playoffs eight months ago. This defense is still a solid unit, they played well on special teams and offensively they looked better than they have the first two weeks of the season. Maybe they were motivated that Ray was in attendance? Great win by the champs and this can give them some momentum moving forward.

5. Bengals outshine Packers- This was the best game I saw all day. The Packers came out struggling but would score 30 straight points on one of the better defenses in the league in the Bengals. The Bengals didn’t give up though and that’s what I like so much about this team is they feel they can fight and compete with whoever they’re matched up against. Turnovers were key in this game and that’s what would end up deciding this game.
