The Week That Was (9/5-9)

1. Peyton Lights Up The Ravens Defense- This was truly a game of two halves. Baltimore’s defense looked younger and they had a lot more speed than what we’ve seen the last five seasons or so. They dominated the first half. Let’s also remember that football is a game of two halves and nobody is better at making adjustments for a new half than Peyton Manning is. What a half this guy had on Thursday night. Five touchdown passes and he finished with seven touchdown passes altogether.

2. Anquan Has Solid Debut For Niners- To me, Anquan Boldin is a top ten receiver. He’s the biggest threat the 49ers have had at receiver since the Terrell Owens era in the early 2000′s. What a game this guy had. 13 catches and 208 yards receiving. Kap and Anquan were definitely on the same page all day and having an Anquan Boldin takes an enormous amount of pressure off Vernon Davis who’s been the only x factor in the passing game for the last few seasons.

3. Bears Erase Eleven Point Deficit- It looked like the Bears were going to take an L in this game. Not too much was going their way. A.J. Green was having a field day on this Bears secondary and their defense had a very hard time tackling and stopping anything in their path. Then came the second half and the Bears looked like a different team. Cutler spread the ball around and the defense held their ground. They come back to win 24-21. The most impressive stat of this game: the offensive line allowed zero sacks!

4. Brady And Pats Survive Bills Scare- This was a different type of offense we saw with the Patriots yesterday. A lot of younger and inexperienced wide receivers and No Gronk either. The one thing I saw from Tom yesterday was he seemed to be impatient when throwing the football. He has to realize that he’s not working experienced wide outs like in previous seasons. The Patriots struggled most of the game but you can always depend on Brady to get you down the field late in the game to give you the best chance to win and he did just that.

5. Cowboys force 6 turnovers against Giants- The Giants couldn’t hold on to the ball to save themselves last night in Dallas. Eli threw three interceptions and David Wilson would end up getting benched after fumbling the football twice. Dallas on the other hand didn’t look great because they had some issues themselves but having DeMarco Murray back will help this offense out a great deal.

6. Saints Win In Payton’s Return- This was by far the best game on paper. The Falcons and Saints have truly developed into a top five rivalry in the game today. Both teams were at it early until the Saints started to gain some momentum moving forward. Their offense wasn’t as explosive as always but they moved the ball down the field efficently and their defense made stops when it was necessary.
