American Legion Hosts Plainfield Memorial Day Parade

This year's parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at Plainfield Central High School.

Plainfield will remember the nation’s fallen heroes with its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27.

Organized by American Legion Marne Post 13, the parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. from Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Dr., making its way to the Veteran’s Memorial in Settlers’ Park.

The commemoration will include performances by the Plainfield North, Central and East high school bands. Speakers will be Will County Sheriff Paul Kaupas and Plainfield Mayor Mike Collins, along with State Rep. Tom Cross (R-Oswego).

Parade information

Parade participants should meet in the north parking lot at Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive, at 10 a.m.:

The parade step off at 10:30 a.m. and proceed north on James Street to Lockport Street, west on Lockport Street to Village Center Drive and end at the Veteran’s Memorial in Settlers’ Park.

According to Plainfield police, the following roads will close at 10:15 a.m.

  • James Street from Fort Beggs to Lockport Street
  • Lockport Street from Route 59 to Van Dyke Road
  • Main Street from Route 59 to Lockport Street
  • Village Center Drive from Lockport Street to Van Dyke Road

Roads will remain closed until the parade reaches the memorial around 10:45 a.m., police said. The road closures will resume when the Memorial Day ceremonies end, and will remain in effect until the parade returns to Plainfield Central at around noon.

Parking will be restricted on James Street from Plainfield Central to Lockport Street and on Village Center Drive.
