Limited Storm Damage Despite Strong Winds

The bulk of the damage involved downed trees and tree limbs, all of which were quickly removed from roadways, Cmdr. Anthony Novak said.

Other than some downed trees and fallen limbs. Plainfield made it through yet another wave of severe thunderstorms relatively unscathed.

According to Plainfield police Cmdr. Anthony Novak, several streets were temporarily blocked by trees but all have been cleared. There are no reports of power outages, fallen electrical wires or flooding, he said.

"We were very fortunate," Novak said.

The wind was strong, he said, maybe 50 to 60 mph, but he has no verification of just how fast it might been at the height of the storm, which would have been shortly after 8 a.m.

The parts of town where there were fallen trees or tree limbs include 135th Street and Naperville-Plainfield Road, Grand Park Boulevard and Mill Street at Route 126.

Other communities in the area sustained more extensive damage. Bolingbrook and Woodridge have large areas that are without power, according to reports.
