More Rain Possible for Plainfield This Week

Additional rainfall could be headed our way through the end of the week.

After Tuesday night’s storms, there’s a chance the Plainfield area could get more showers and storms Wednesday, according to the Joliet Weather Center.

“With the already saturated grounds and isolated flooding that occurred last night, any rains will likely cause additional flooding. On top of the fact that the atmosphere has ample moisture to work with, which means any storm has the capability of producing torrential heavy rains,” according to a post on the JWC Facebook page. “So as we work through this week the chances of seeing strong to severe storms will increase as well, with the greatest threats coming Thursday and Friday.”

The National Weather Service has also issued a flood advisory for the east branch of the DuPage River in Bolingbrook, predicting “periods of showers and thunderstorms will continue into Wednesday morning … [an] additional rainfall of a quarter inch is possible.”
