District 202 Proposes New School Boundaries for 2011-12

Based on the subdivision, students may be switching elementary, middle and/or high schools; proposed changes go to the board in April.

School boundary changes designed to relieve overcrowding at , , and middle schools were released Friday by .

However, not only middle schools will be affected. The district follows a "house" system through which officials attempt to "assign whole neighborhoods to the same schools," according to a news release issued late Friday afternoon.

The release also said that officials used general "parameters" in deciding how boundaries would be shifted. Among them, finding ways to minimize the number of children affected, assigning entire subdivisions to specific schools and trying to create a system through which students at an elementary school move on to attend the same middle and high schools.

The new boundaries, however, are just proposals at this juncture. The school board is expected to vote on them in April.

What follows is a list of subdivisions and the changes proposed. If a subdivision is not on the list, it means that it is not included in the plan and students will continue to attend the schools to which they are already assigned.
