Plainfield Library to Close for Renovations

Library officials anticipate the closure, which will allow for the installation of a new HVAC system, will last for five days.

The Plainfield Public Library will close for five days as a new rooftop HVAC system is installed, and library officials are urging patrons to call or check the library's website, www.plainfield.lib.il.us, before visiting.

The closure is tentatively scheduled for Monday, Jan. 7 through Friday, Jan. 11 to allow HVAC rooftop units to be placed on the roof by crane. Renovations will also include installing an HVAC control system, addressing duct issues and balancing the library's air-handling system.

"We're doing our best to minimize disruption of service to our customers," said Library Board President Sharon Kinley, "but weather may be a factor."

If you forget to return a book or DVD before the closure starts, though, don't worry. Due dates will be extended through the closing date, with no fines for materials that are returned late while the library is closed to the public.
