Master Gardeners to Break Down Composting Basics at August Program

August’s Green Village program will feature an informative presentation on how to start and maintain a composting operation. The composting workshop will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 12, at the Plainfield Public Library.

Composting offers many benefits. Yard waste such as leaves and lawn clippings, along with many organic food scraps, can be broken down and used for nutrient-rich soil conditioning. Two Master Gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension will provide an overview of how to set up a composting system and keep it healthy and thriving.
