Plainfield Park District will host a park dedication for Gregory B. Bott

The Plainfield Park District will host a park dedication ceremony on November 2 at 10 a.m. to rename River Edge Park to the Gregory B. Bott Park.

The dedication is in honor of the former Executive’s Director 32 years of service to the Plainfield Park District. Under Bott’s direction the Park District began with 5 full-time employees, growing to currently 40 full-time employees and approximately 250 seasonal employees.

“We are grateful for Greg’s years of service, and I think I can speak on behalf of our Plainfield Park District family and say his passion for this organization made a strong foundation for which we build upon today” Park District Executive Director Garrett Peck said. “We wish Greg all the best in his retirement.”

Bott started working for the Park District March 27, 1981 as park maintenance employee. His career with the Plainfield Park District quickly took off, and he became a superintendent of parks in 1982; then becoming executive director in 1985.
