Toastmasters Open House on March 18

Bridge Builders Toastmasters will host an open house on March 18, 2014, for members of the public who are interested in improving their communication and leadership skills. The meeting begins at 11:45 a.m. and will be held at Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I), 14105 S. Route 59, Plainfield.
Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Members join Toastmasters for many reasons, including conquering a fear of public speaking. People who are comfortable with public speaking also benefit, by learning how to more clearly organize their presentations, use body language that supports their message, incorporate vocal variety, better manage their time, be more skilled at impromptu speaking, and more.
Bridge Builders is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2014. Started as a club for CB&I employees, Bridge Builders is now open to the public, which comprises close to half of its members.
Founded in October 1924, Toastmasters International currently has more than 292,000 members in 14,350-plus clubs in 122 countries. Each week, Toastmasters helps more than a quarter million people of every ethnicity, education level and profession build their competence in communication so they can gain the confidence to lead others.
Lunch will be provided at the meeting. Attendees are requested to bring their own beverages. To RSVP, please call Maureen Lacey (815) 439-6364 or Elaine Sommer at (815) 439-6577.
