A Rock Island bike shop is auctioning off a bike used and autographed by
Chicago Bear Charles Tillman to benefit a 6-year-old Plainfield boy's
diabetes fundraising campaign.
Depron, owner of the Bike N Hike Shop, supplies the bikes used by the
Chicago Bears during training camp. He requested Tillman sign the seat
of his so it could be raffled off to help Cooper Christensen's campaign
to raise money for the American Diabetes Association, according to a story by WQAD in the Quad-Cities.
Cooper raises money, not only does it help the diabetes association,
but it allows him to go to diabetes camp, where he gets to
be with other young children that have been stricken with the disease as
well,” Depron told the TV station.
Christensen has his own fundraising page
for Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, where he had raised $8,109 toward
his 2013 goal of $10,000 as of Thursday afternoon. He's also the voice
heard on radio public service ads for the Step Out event, which is being held Sept. 29 in Chicago's Grant Park.
