Local Bank Raising Money for Illinois Tornado Victims

Money can be donated to PeopleFirstBank in Joliet and Shorewood; all proceeds will be distributed through Will County Habitat for Humanity.

PeopleFirstBank, with facilities in Joliet and Shorewood, have announced efforts to raise money for people who were injured or lost their homes in the Sunday tornadoes in Illinois.

Money donated to accounts set up at PeopleFirstBank will be distributed via Will County Habitat for Humanity, said Erik Schelling, PeopleFirst vice president and the community reinvestment officer.

“Our hearts go out to all the storm victims,” bank President/CEO David T. Stanton said. "We believe we have a responsibility to support those in need, especially when the devastation is in our own backyard. I encourage all of our customers and neighbors to join us in our efforts, as the need is so great.”

Donations may be made at the PeopleFirstBank locations at 3100 Theodore St. in Joliet and 1226 W. Jefferson St. in Shorewood.  Checks can be made payable to “PeopleFirstBank for benefit of 11/17/13 Relief Fund” and mailed to PeopleFirstBank, 3100 Theodore St., Joliet, IL 60435.
