Nabby's Fundraiser Benefits Plainfield Food Pantry

Head over to the restaurant between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday to help feed hungry families.

With the holidays fast approaching, three Plainfield businesses are teaming up to help fill the shelves at the Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry.

Nabby's Restaurant & Catering, 14802 N. Michigan St. (near Route 59 and Main Street), will host a fundraiser for the pantry from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

Nabby's co-owner Mike Vitullo said The Enterprise newspaper and Rod Baker Ford will also pitch in. For each new subscriber who signs up on Saturday, the Enterprise will donate $5 to the food pantry, Vitullo said.

Meanwhile, Rod Baker Ford will have an electric car on display; for details on how to contribute to the dealership's fundraising effort for the food pantry, head over Nabby's between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday.

Nabby's will also be selling hot dogs for $1, with proceeds benefitting the pantry.

Vitullo said the fundraiser will allow the pantry to purchase food at discounted prices to help fill the shelves in time for the holidays.

"More and more people are going to them, especially at Thanksgiving time," Vitullo said, adding he hopes to raise $1,000 to help feed local families.
