Plainfield Donation Drive Fills Semi-Truck for Tornado Victims

Plainfield residents hurried to assist those hit hard by the storms.

In less than 24 hours, generous Plainfield-area residents rushed to collect an overwhelming amount of supplies for victims affected by the tornadoes in Washington and Coal City.

Plainfield firefighter Adam Slick shared this photo of the huge amount of donations dropped off at Plainfield Fire Station 1 on Monday. The items will be delivered on Tuesday, said Slick, who plans to head out first thing in the morning.

"I planned on taking a pickup truck, however with the HUGE response weve received today, we had to upgrade to a SEMI TRAILER!," Slick wrote, "and it is FULL!

"THANK YOU to everyone that took time out of your day to bring donations to us for the relief effort! The response was OVERWHELMING to say the least!."
