Plainfield Park District Workers Join Tornado Relief Effort

Submitted by the Plainfield Park District:

A handful of Plainfield Park District employees have joined the list of crews sent to areas of northern and central Illinois ravaged by Sunday’s storms.  Four workers from the PPD’s Maintenance Department, along with their equipment, went to the Coal City area this morning to help out wherever possible.

“We had heard through a variety of sources that additional assistance was needed so we sent a crew down to Coal City this morning to help out wherever we can,” said Plainfield Parks Superintendent Gene Coldwater.  “Many of us also remember how our neighbors and people from throughout the area and the state came to assist the people of Plainfield after the 1990 tornado.  Pitching in where you can to help out people in need is just the right thing to do.”

Coldwater said the offer to help from the Plainfield Park District is open-ended for now, and he’ll continue to send whatever workers are needed that he can spare until the clean-up is under control.
