Plainfield Teen Gets 'Ultimate Game Day Experience' At Bears Game

Shauna Gilles is a "Fuel Up to Play 60" ambassador.

A Plainfield student braved last Monday's freezing temperatures to rub elbows with the players at last week's Bears vs. Cowboys game.

Shauna Gilles, an eighth-grader at Heritage Grove Middle School, was selected in August as one of five students to serve as a National Ambassador for Fuel Up to Play 60.

The in-school nutrition and physical activity program created in partnership with Midwest Dairy Council and the NFL, in collaboration with USDA, Fuel Up to Play 60 encourages students to eat healthy, be active and make positive, healthy changes in their schools and communities.

Last week, Shauna and the other ambassadors received special recognition at the game, representing 3,800 schools in Illinois that are involved with "Fuel Up to Play 60." Then, she and two other "honorary captains" were selected to conduct the coin toss at the start of the game.

Students and advisors from thirteen winning schools across the state also received on-field recognition during the pre-game activities, as well as tickets to the game. Participants had to meet a set of criteria to be eligible to win, including hosting a Fuel Up to Play 60 kick-off event and sharing their school wellness strategies at www.FuelUptoPlay60.com.
